Eve of Darkness by S.J. Day

When I was at Nationals I stood in line to get an ABM (Advanced Bound Manuscript) of Eve of Darkness from S.J. Day. Signed even.

To say I have been waiting for this book, is putting it mildly. Poor Sylvia probably thought I was stalking her. I kind of was. (Sorry, Sylvia). However, as soon as I read about the Marked series, I knew I needed to read them. But the first one doesn’t come out until May of 2009. 2009!!! How is one supposed to wait that long?

Thankfully, I read her post stating that she would be giving these away at her publisher signing event so I faithfully stood in line and she was the first person I hit.

I read this book a couple of days after I returned home. A friend of mine (Ember Case) read hers on the way home from conference and loved it. I restrained myself since I wanted time to just read it with quiet all around me. OMG – it is so amazing. Seriously. Go put it on your wish list at Amazon. In fact,
why don’t you just go pre-order it. I’m telling you, you won’t be disappointed.

This is like demon hunting meets Touched by an Angel (except the angels are naughty and slightly angry, but it’s ok, because God loves them ) – ok, that statement doesn’t do the series justice, not even close LOL. Here’s the logline “Cursed by God, hunted by demons, desired by Cain and Abel… All in a day’s work.”

I love Eve and I love Cain. Abel’s ok too. They’re both hot. But Cain? Whew. I’d love to show you a cover, but I think the only thing I have I’d have to scan and I’m not entirely sure that’s the actual cover anyway.

Now I have to wait until June 2009 for the next in the series. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to do that. And poor Sylvia thought she’d gotten rid of me for a while. She didn’t realise that I am a series slut. But I am. Just ask Jaci Burton (Demon Hunter series), Lara Adrian (Midnight Breed series), Allison Brennan (Evil series – not sure if that’s the right name), or any number of other authors that I urge to write faster so I can have the next book and the next one.

Anyway, go check out the website for this series and put this book on your TBR list. It’s well written, fast-paced, has great tension. the world-building is good, there are characters to hate, characters to love and some you are completely unsure about. And it leaves you wanting more. I must have more Eve.

Eve of Destruction… I await you.

Here’s a little excerpt widget for EOD:

I have to agree with everything M.G. said about this book. It absolutely rocks and you absolutely are doing yourself a huge disservice if you do not buy it. Go. Now! Pre-order it!!
