Back in the Saddle

So I signed up for Sven. ‘Cause I love him I think. And ’cause he really whips my butt (in writing).

And see how motivated I am already? I typed about 1200 words last night in a quick chat/whip session – about 40 minutes give or take. That might not be a lot of words for some people, but for me it was awesome.

Hopefully I can keep it going. Tonight is date night so no writing tonight (unless we aren’t out too late), but it’s back at it tomorrow.

What motivates you to write (besides a contract, because yeah, that works for me too! LOL)?

Sven is incredibly motivating isn’t he? We haven’t even started yet and I’ve added about 13K to my current book

Having a daily word count goal to meet is what keeps me motivated. And I don’t get to quit until I meet that goal. Which means I don’t get to do the fun stuff, or step away from my computer, until I meet that goal. So I can waste all the time I want to blog hopping or chatting or doing whatever it is that I waste time doing during the day, but my butt will be in that chair until I meet that word count goal. And I REALLY hate spending all day in that chair. So trust me, I hit that goal by 3 p.m. each day.

Trust me, that’s awesome for me too.

Deadlines motivate me. And yeah, contracts.

Also–more creatively!–sometimes when I’m writing towards a scene I’m really looking forward to. The first kiss, the big dramatic scene, the moment he falls in love with her etc…

    Keep typing, Emgee!
