My beautiful daughter graduated from preschool on Wednesday. These are thirteen things about why I’m (mostly) glad preschool ended:
- I get my Mon, Wed, Fri afternoons back (sort of). Yes, it should have been a peaceful 2 1/2 hr break but as I have another, younger, child at home and an older child at elementary that lets out only a couple of hours after I drop her off, it doesn’t quite work out that way.
- No more driving from one side of town to the other, while hoping the youngest falls asleep and I can park and read/work for a while.
- I don’t have to argue which two snacks she is allowed to take.
- No more half dry paintings getting smeared on either my hands or my car, or both.
- I don’t have to figure out what to do with all of the artwork that comes home (oh come on, I’m not a terrible mom, I keep some of it!O
) - No more juggling schedules when field trips are on because I don’t have anyone to pick up my oldest from school.
- I don’t have to hear about Jared anymore. “Oh Jared.” “Jared’s going to marry me.” “Jared only likes it when I wear dresses.” um – yeah it’d be sweet if he even gave her the time of day. Not that he talks to many of the girls. He’s way too cool for that!:smirk:
- No more forgetting about some food item I was supposed to bring for some special day or another, and then having to run out to the store to buy something.
- I have another 2-3 years before I have to do it again.
- The endless cupcakes and birthdays and my child coming home hopped up on sugar.
- Kindergarten is next and that means my oldest son and his sister will be at the same school every day, if only for half a day.
- I won’t miss driving from one side of town to the other between the preschool and the elementary school. Yes, it was our choice to put her in that particular one, but still with gas prices…
- In particular I’m happy about graduation because I got to see my daughter look this beautiful (click on the pics to see full size):
and wear this hat:
Truthfully, I will miss the preschool, and the wonderful teachers my daughter had. They taught her in a safe and loving environment and I know she was very happy there. She made many friends, some of whom she will see in Kindergarten, but some she won’t. She learned her alphabet and knows how to write her name, as well as those of everyone in her family and Elmo (don’t ask?).

Aww…what a cutie! Congrats to the new Kindergartener!

Happy T13!
I bet you’re thrilled! She’s adorable. Mine didn’t do pre-school. I can’t wait for K to start. But I’ll watch out for the we paint.

And how tall is that kid??
by Seeley deBorn June 21st, 2007 at 6:24 am ♦So cute! And hooray for no artwork!
by Crystal Jordan June 21st, 2007 at 7:18 am ♦Thanks everyone!
Robin – my comment links are at the top (underneath each posts title), it seems to confuse people but I don’t have time to go in to the code and mess around right now.
Thanks Tempest, but she’s not my youngest. I still have another little guy left to go through preschool. 2-3 more years for that though! LOL
Seeley – Um, she’s pretty tall! LOL In fact, she’s 106th percentile. She’s about a head taller than most of her friends. I hope they catch up soon. It looked funny in her dance recital, and all the other parents/adults seem to think she’s older than she is.
by Michelle June 21st, 2007 at 7:18 am ♦Yep, mine graduated from preschool last month, too. That’s what a lot of my recent stress has been about, in fact — kindergarten.
A good preschool makes a whole world of difference. It’s really amazing the effect it can have on a kid.
Happy TT!

Great pics. Can’t relate directly to the joys but my sister has shared many a horror story about wet paint.
