WIP the Suspense

I’m doing it. I am revisiting Ghost Writer, my romantic suspense, and I’m excited. This is the one I want to pitch at Write On Vancouver in May.

I’ve read through the critiques I got from the Romance Divas when I posted in their critique forum way back in 2005. I started writing this when I was unknowingly pregnant with my last baby. Then I got too sick with that pregnancy to do anything, let alone write. I disappeared for a while.

When I came back I started writing something completely different. Actually, I wrote a few other things. One is under conditional contract with one publisher (and I’m excitedly waiting for my editor to give me her suggestions) and one is Love’s Blessings due out with By Grace Publishing next month. I started and stalled on a dragon novella I wanted for the Samhain Dragon Anthology. It was a very cool idea, and still is, but it’s just not ready to flow yet, so I didn’t make it for the anthology which turned out to be fine for me. I was hoping to submit it to them at a later date, since Angie says they are always looking for good stories, but it appears they are now closed to submissions, as per Angie’s recent TT. Ahh well, it does say temporary so I can always try again later.

So now I’m back to writing Love Inheritance, which is supposed to be destined for a multi-author anthology I am working on with some lovely author friends. We had an original goal of March but all of us have been pushed back by one thing or another.

However, today I dusted off the Ghost Writer ms and this weekend I plan on giving it a re-read (now that I’ve read what the crits have to say) and getting started on it again. I have a head cold but I’m determined not to let that stop me. I was challenged by Cat at Romance Junkies (not that she may remember because it was, ahem, way back in October) to get this one going for January 1st and to shop it around. I had originally submitted this to their contest in 2005 and she had actually remembered it (or she was being nice but either way it worked for me). OK, so I’m a few months late but better late than never, right?

Also, today I read Jaci’s Take Your Writing Career Seriously piece over at Author MBA and I decided I will and I am. I do? (wait isn’t that a love song? :music: LOL)

So here I go…do you see me?

Hey, Michelle. You may want to check out Samhain’s site. I was
there yesterday, and if I remember correctly, yes, they are
temp closed for subs, but it says they are still accepting for the
    anthologies.

Good luck on your conditional contract!

Oh, and I still haven’t read your freebie! I’m so sorry, but my life
will be insane for another few weeks, and then work slows down a
    bit. I WILL read it!

:crazyjack: Way to go Michelle. We know you’ve got the talent, now flaunt it. I was seriously tempted on the Dragon stories, seriously tempted but I’m just not the dragon writer and I love dragon films. Go figure?
Keep on writing. So if you have only a brief entry daily it all adds up. I wish that I had actually sqeezed in writing when my boys were young. I wrote nothing for eighteen years, except letters and journals about my travels.
I keep telling Brian my writing partner all he needs is fifteen mnutes a day, however chopped up into chunks he can make it. We are back working on Hit and Miss.

Oh yay–I love the sound of your Ghost Writer.
Samhain’s only temporarily closed to subs–just for conference season. Not that conference season means much to me cos I’m too far away to go to any of them ever. :shake:
    Sorry you’re ill. Hugs.

    You can do it, Michelle!
I’ve been catching up with Author MBA too. Lots of invaluable info there.

Good luck with the revisions. I’m sure you’ll get it looking great and someone will snatch it up!
I have a few old ones I’d like to dust off, but I’m not sure if they are worth the effort to try and clean up.

    Hey Michelle,

I’m trying to tackle a similar project. One I started a long time ago and never had a chance to finish. It’s nice to pick up your old work and go…it doesn’t stink, and I can totally finish it!
