…on an editor, on The Call, on anything really (you can apply these to waiting in all areas of your life but come on – you know what we’re waiting for):
- Eat Chocolate – yes, you may gain weight but it is a good and worthy option and it might make you forget you cared about waiting.
- Drink
– this goes without saying although it can kick the anxiety level up.
Write something else – while this is what we should be doing, I for one am having difficulty with it for some reason.
– this one I am very good at. Burying myself in a book is as good a way as any to pass the time, and no commercial breaks! - Play with the kids/baby
– no really, I should do this more. It’s good for all concerned and can be very distracting. Just do it away from the computer otherwise every email ping will have you running. - Catch up on your bills – this one sucks but it does take time and usually some concentration.
- Spend time with the Romance Divas – where you wonder if everyone else is there trying to distract themselves as well.
- Bloghop – this usually only distracts you if you aren’t hopping to your editors blog hoping she will say something brilliant about you or say anything about you at all.
- Fold laundry – yes, you’re getting desperate but hey it has to be done.
- Drive around trying to get the baby to sleep
– this is called waiting on the baby to sleep because you’ve already tried for three hours at home to get him to sleep and it didn’t work! - Write your THursday Thirteen – ok, well I’m not so good at this one because I only have time to write it after I get my oldest off to school, my middle child settled with whatever show she is fixated on at present and my baby fed. Oh, well see I just used up a lot of time with that! LOL
- Try desperately to put it out of your mind and enjoy life exactly the way it is right now. :crazyjack:
- Try not to count to 13 because you only have 12 things to do while waiting!!! LOL

/comfort.
The only difference between writing and waiting is one measly letter. Or call, as the case may be.
It’s all about the chocolate and coffee, although I agree about the coffee thing. There’s nothing quite like waiting while bouncing off walls. :foodsmiley:
by Emma March 29th, 2007 at 8:20 am ♦Eating chocolate is a valid thing to do anytime! Waiting is a hard thing for me. I’ll have to keep some of these things in mind.
by Christine d'Abo March 29th, 2007 at 8:24 am ♦I HATE waiting! The only thing I hate more are people who say “I have something to tell you, but I can’t tell you
by Victoria Krain March 29th, 2007 at 8:42 am ♦until next week. :cuss: WTF!!! The people who say this SUCK!!! Why tell you there’s something to say if they can’t
tell you?!?
Waiting. *nibbles fingers down to bloody stumps* Or in my case, I get cold sores in my mouth. I have five right now.

Number 1′s good, especially in the form of brownies.
by May March 29th, 2007 at 9:13 am ♦i’m so bad with numbers that i actually counted five times to make sure i wasn’t crazy about there
by Rhian March 29th, 2007 at 10:30 am ♦only being 12 thirteens… and i’m grinning like an idiot that you so messed with my mind. Doesn’t take much I know. Sigh.
Folding laundry….i’m from the shove in the drawer school and shake out the wrinkles.
Waiting on an editor? The best thing to do is FORGET about that submission. LOL. Obsessing about it doesn’t help the time go any faster.
by Kate Willoughby March 29th, 2007 at 11:01 am ♦Rhian – ROFL I didn’t even notice!
Off to fix it now and then have to feed dd and pick up ds1 and then I’ll go do a round of visiting TT’s.
by Michelle March 29th, 2007 at 11:38 am ♦Eating chocolate and reading are the best ways to waste. . .uh. . .pass the time while waiting.
by Denise Patrick March 29th, 2007 at 11:48 am ♦Excellent list. No better way to while away the hours than reading and eating chocolate — try not to get any smudges on the pages, though!

by Jennifer Bianco March 29th, 2007 at 1:39 pm ♦Waiting is so difficult!
Eat chocolate, drink coffee, read a book and spend time with the divas – are you my twin? Great ways to waste time – thanks for posting this.
by Debora March 29th, 2007 at 1:39 pm ♦You’ve got several there I’ve been putting off. But hey! I’m not waiting for anything right now; I’m writing. So the kids will have to continue to pull laundry out of the baskets near the dryer.
by Gina March 29th, 2007 at 1:56 pm ♦All worthwhile things to do while waiting! You’d think with all the waiting we
writers do we’d get better at it, but so far I’ve seen no proof of that!
Hey, and hopefully the wait is worth it!
by Elle Fredrix March 29th, 2007 at 2:00 pm ♦Um, I thought the smilie in #4 was doing something other than writing…
Waiting is the worst!
by Shari Straight March 29th, 2007 at 8:53 pm ♦Those oare some really good things to do while waiting. i especially like the reading one I can really see myself doing that. LOL
I also thought of a thirteenth one for you, Sleep, as a moom of two crazy elementary school age boys sleep is a much needed thing.
by Jenn L March 30th, 2007 at 3:36 am ♦OY! I hate waiting, too…great list!!
by Rhonda March 30th, 2007 at 3:54 am ♦Write for Thursday 13? Ha! I am lucky to post for my blog more than once a month — although I vow to do it more often every time I visit my blog, then I quickly click away to somewhere else in avoidance LOL — let alone write 13 things every Thursday.
With all of your children, I don’t know how you manage to write. Amazing!
Kit
P.S. I found you through Dreams of the Big Red Lion blog.
