Congratulations to all RIO nominees! :beerclink:
Shannon is nominated under Romantic Suspense for 72 Hours – Way to go Shannon! She’s listed with the likes of Cindy Gerard, Jenna Mills and Linda Howard, among others. That is something to be proud of!
Katherine Warwick is nominated under Short Contemporary for Noon – this was another great read and I know Katherine will be thrilled!
Sela Carsen was nominated in the Debut category for Not Quite Dead - I just finished this book and loved it. It’s a lot of fun to read and what a great start to Sela’s career!
There are many more nominees and these are just a few that I’m listing because I’ve not only read their books but I’ve “talked” to them. They are wonderful authors and the books are great reads. Congratulations to all of you!
So a friend of a friend blogged about this writing game. I have been there perusing and am thinking of joining.
I do not normally write fantasy but if you do I should think you will especially enjoy this. From what I understand you create a character and control your character and actions solely by what you write. You can only post once a day while you wait for others to join you and/or react to what you’ve done. Basically you are creating a story together which could go anywhere you want.
This is what I mean…
Rule # 6 – Every Journey Leaves A Trace:
Each character moves like a king on a chess board, one step at a time, along a logical path through adjacent areas. Interact with characters and situations in each area as appropriate. Don’t “skip” to distant locations without posting your movements through the areas along your path. Except by the use of magick (see #5) your character can only be in one place at any time.
Anyway, I’m going to check it out. If any of you have joined or are already a member, tell me who your characters are or what your story name is. This may be just what I need to be inspired again (although I did write last night, not very much but I wrote!).
I should be writing but I can’t seem to. Plus, I don’t have a back to my chair and it’s hard to sit here. The back fell off a while ago but I’ve been making do. My back is protesting now. Hmm, perhaps I am not writing because I am not in a good writing “zone”. :snooty:
In addition, I don’t have the momentum to keep going on one of the novellas I should be working on. It’s very traditional romance I think and I’m not sure that works anymore. I could work on adding the “oomph” to my conditionally accepted ms but I seem to have a block as to what that oomph would be. Hopefully my editor will have an idea because at the moment I’m completely blank.
I have another ms that is romantic suspense that I really want to get going on but it isn’t calling me yet. I think that one could be really good, if I handle it properly, and I want it to come to me when its ready. I’m not sure if that makes sense but I know I write better when the words come instead of when I force them. I know that makes sense to most of you writers. I also know many of you are on deadlines so you have to write stuff whether it comes to you or not. How do you handle that? Any ideas?
Lastly, I have a chick lit idea just wandering around in my head. I think it would be something a little different but I’m not sure. It’s not something I’ve read before and I hope it would work. I’m going to let that percolate for a while.
So it’s been a couple of weeks since I really wrote something. I’m itching to get back to it but my muse hasn’t really decided which way to go. She/he (I know some of you have named your muse and everything – I don’t know mine that well yet) isn’t gone just meandering about in my head.
…and some I really do
- Hummer – Not only is it fun to say but it’s huge and powerful. I want one. Bad. The thought of driving around in one of these just thrills me.
- Blackberry or Treo – or actually anyone one of the new PDA/Phone/MP3 player fun things. I love gadgets.
- KitchenAid Waffle Baker – I have had the waffles made in this thing and they are just so much better than my cheesy little waffle iron. Plus, it looks cool and it spins

- Alphasmart – So I can write when I’m in the car. I can do this with my Palm pilot and keyboard but it’s a bit more awkward and flimsy.
- PVR Receiver for my satellite – It’s like TIVO but it’s Canadian (not sure you can get TIVO up here).
- Inkless Printer for my Cell phone – If I have #2 I will need this.

- Fish n Flush – OK I don’t really want one of these but how funny is this?
- An Adjustable bed – I know most people think these are for seniors but I love sitting up and reading in bed and it’s hard to get the pillows just right behind your back. I want a comfortable, nice looking one, not a hospital bed.
- A maid – ok well, I’m not sure :shake: if they’re fun but it would be fun for me if I didn’t have to clean the bathroom or do laundry.
- Global Obusform Multi-Tilt chair – because the back fell of mine two months ago so I am writing in a chair without a back and that starts to be strenous. It is still better than our really awful kitchen chairs though.
- Hot Tub – Look how relaxing that is! Especially since my tub here is small, shallow and narrow. Ahhhh, I love baths. I’d probably be in the thing every day!

- Stretching IMage Human Touch Massage Recliner - It’s ugly but I bet it feels amazing!
- Sharper IMage Shiatsu Massage Bed Rest with Reading Light- In case I don’t get the reclinging bed this is a much more affordable option.
Wow – who knew that would be so hard. I really only want about six of these things, I struggled to come up with some of those. I guess I don’t want much after all…except the Hummer
