Kiss of Midnight – shout out to Lara

KOM

I finished this last night. Wow. It was good. Really good.

Lara has done a fine job of crafting her characters. They are real and, even with the bad guys, they are relatable. OK, no I’ve never met a vampire (I don’t think), nor a Minion, but she hasn’t built them as comic book characters. They have traits that anyone could recognise. They just happen to have a body form that is different. What’s a little fang or zombie between friends

Often, when I have read vampire or similar type novels, I find myself in disbelief. Even though I know nothing of those worlds I wonder if that would really happen. If I am disbelieving a make-believe place then you know it’s not working. I may not be wording this correctly but hopefully you understand what I mean. You can have a fantasy place and still not believe the fantasy.

I believed everything about Kiss of Midnight and I can only pray that I will learn to write characters the way that Lara has. There is a poignancy about Gabrielle that left me aching for her. I felt what she felt. Of course I’d like to have felt Lucan (ok, yes, a little crude but c’mon he’s hot!) :angelsmiley:

This review is going downhill now so sufficed to say…go get a copy! It’s not out ’til May but you can pre-order it on Amazon. Run!
