Juggling

In life we all have to juggle. For me this particular juggle includes being a parent, a wife, a writer, a friend, a reviewer, a volunteer and probably a million other things I don’t feel like listing right now because I’m already exhausted.  I should be in  but I have to write my Valentine eread for the RD free ebook blog event and I have committed to May and Joely that I will do Novella in a month with them – they are doing much better with theirs than I am with mine.  Of course I’d have to actually work on mine to do something more than they have.

It would be nice if I could put these balls down for a while.  That sounds slightly dirty but it’s not.  Really.  :angelsmiley:

Today I haven’t been on the computer much, it is making me feel like this :angrysmiley:

I will finish this lovely whine with some music :music: and bid you all good night.  Maybe tomorrow I will come back refreshed and alive.  Ready to write and spread joy, love and laughter throughout the world.  Or at least ready to write.  :crazyjack:

Edit this

I’m about 3/4 of the way through my first draft of Snow-whatever-it’s-called-now and I realise that editing is really not my thing.

Now I’m sure it’s probably not many writers’ “thing” but still some of us are better at it than others.  Some even have jobs doing this.  I don’t have the patience.  However, when I say that it isn’t my thing I mean I don’t like editing my own work.  When my CP points out inconsistencies or errors I am very happy to look at them and make the changes.  It is my own eye that I don’t trust.

Also, the thing is, I’m done writing this.  Why do I have to look at it again?  I mean, really, isn’t it superb to begin with?  O  Well, no, it’s not.  BUT, it isn’t bad.  Yes, there are edits definitely needed.  Could I possibly use “and” more than I do to connect thoughts?

The neat thing I have found about this round of edits is that the story is actually ok.  In fact, I rather like it.  You may be thinking “well sure you do, you wrote it”, but let me tell you that by the end of it I hated it.  I thought it was pointless and silly.  Having just re-read the whole thing I see that it is not, or at least it’s not to me.  And my CP said she likes it too.  Course, I pay her to say that so…

Now it’s time for some :foodsmiley: because I was up all night with a sick baby and I’m feeling rather like  myself.  This morning I start editing Chapter 11.  Only six more to go!

It’s done and good news

I finished Snowpeaks, or whatever I’m calling it. It’s done. I wasn’t sure but I had my CP read the last chapter and she liked it. She’s reading the rest of it too but I was specifically concerned about the HEA because it ended completely differently than I had outlined (:shake: and that is why I’m a pantser because I really like to just go where I go). Since she’s an editor at an epub I admire I trust her opinion. Actually, I trusted her opinion prior to that as well but now I know she really knows what she’s talking about.

So now I have to start on edits. I finished Chapter One last night and hope to get to more today but I have a farewell party to attend tonight and since I’m one of the hosts I have food to make. I’d like to get as much of the editing and/or revisions done over the weekend but who knows if that will happen. Plus, I need a new name. I did come up with some funny ones:

  • Snow on her Peaks
  • Avalanche of Love
  • ROFL

Speaking of her – I have to share that my fabulous CP who just won first place (yes, first place) in the Stardust Press Creatures of Darkness contest. That’s cash and a contract. Who knew it would happen? O Well, that would be me. I’m telling you folks that this author is truly talented and the story original. When it comes out I will be in line for my copy.
