Romance with no HEA?

May thinks you don’t need it. http://miladyinsanity.wordpress.com/2007/01/09/because-im-a-rebel-with-no-clues/
I think I agree with Angie than in the romance genre you do. But I’m a sucker for an HEA or at least a HFN ending.

What do you think?

5 Crazy things About Me

Angie tagged me for this so here it goes:

  1. I love writing, I complain about having no time to write and yet when I get time to write I spend more time reading blogs, motivational info and other discussions on how to write than actually writing. That’s nuts for sure.
  2. I don’t wear socks. Or nylons. Or pretty much anything on my feet unless I have to. Obviously I wear shoes outside but even when it’s really cold here I don’t wear socks. When I lived in Calgary I finally conceded to wearing them but at -40 you can lose toes. I do wear slippers in the kitchen in the winter because the floor in there is unnaturally cold and it seems to up through my bones. So the slippers sit there and I take them off as soon as I’m done.
  3. I thrive on stress (see #1). I feel like I get more accomplished when I have a small amount of time to do it in. It really gets me going and I think faster and more clearly. If I have too much time to do something I get bored and distracted.
  4. If I can’t find something that I know should be in a certain place I go nutso looking for it or thinking about it even when it is no big deal. For example I have a certain pen I bought, it’s not an expensive pen but it is this cool flexgrip pink pen that proceeds of go to support breast cancer and I like it. I always leave it in a certain spot on my desk. If it’s not there then I know one of the small people in the house “borrowed it” (they aren’t supposed to touch Mommy’s desk) or my dh did (he’s also not allowed to touch my desk :shake:. Usually it’s dh and he’s now put it somewhere but can’t remember where. I go nuts until I find it ’cause I have to use that pen. It’s a little obsessive frankly and not necessary but you wanted the crazy stuff so there you go.
  5. I think I’ve mentioned this before but I get rather scared in the dark at night. Especially when it is storming outside. I freak out and swear boogeymen are breaking in. Yes, I have a wild imagination. It drives my poor dh nuts as I’m always waking him up to go check something out for me.

So there you have it – nuts :cuckoo: or just really creative :smirk:? You decide.

I’m at my new home!

Wooohooo! Today is the first post on my new blog at mgbraden.com – I am very excited! I have my own website and blog, which will give me a bit more control over what I can do. My site isn’t so exciting as yet but hopefully it will be soon. In the meantime, join me here (and remember to update any links you have for me) and we can chat via the blog!

NB: I have brought over all of my posts from blogger but since they’ve upgraded I wasn’t able to get the comments too since WordPress doesn’t yet have an import feature for the new beta blogger (boo beta blogger . ) I had to use an rss feed to get the posts over.

Thursday Thirteen – Writing Goals For 2007
Thirteen Things about MG Braden1. Finish Snowbound and get it out of my hair. I’m afraid it’s not going where I wanted it to go and now it is annoying me.

2. Start promoting Love’s Blessing for its April 2007 release (see I started already LOL).

3. Try to put down ideas as soon as I get them so that I have material ready when needed. Often I have an idea and because I don’t write it down right away I can’t fully flesh it out later.

4. Would love to finish Ghost Writer for submission to a specific call that’s recently been made by a fave publisher of mine.

5. Write more on To Catch Dragon for another call for submission (yeah, I’m sure you know where this one is headed) for another fave publisher. This one isn’t what you expect for this and I hope it turns out really well.

6. Would like to have three books/novellas/etc. published this year at least.

7. Want to spend at least an hour every day writing for my own work, instead of just reviewing for others.

8. To read at least five books every month (I think I already do this but I’d like to make it a goal because you can’t write if you don’t read).

9. Make sure to visit and support my fellow authors as much as possible.

10. Keep an eye on my tense, as in present and past, when writing.

11. Finish everything I start even if I decide I don’t like it. It is too easy to have a million unfinished wips and terribly hard to finish them.

12. Give myself deadlines and stick to them as much as possible. Again, it is easy for me to let my life take over and give me excuses not to write (like the last two weeks for example). If I can read and comment on blogs, I can take time to write my own stuff.

13. Get fit – yes, ok, it’s not exactly a writing goal but it’s hard to come up with thirteen things sometimes and, technically, a fit body makes for a fit mind. Ha!

Happy New Year!

Well I made it through the weekend at “family camp”. Sounds glamourous doesn’t it? LOL. Actually it was a lot of fun. We spent the long weekend (Fri-Mon) at a ranch not too far from where we live and we got to do all sorts of things I wouldn’t have associated with doing in Winter. We rode horses, swam (yes, in an outdoor pool!! but it was heated to 100 so it was all good baby), ate, did riflery, square danced, ate, climbed walls, rapelled, did challenge courses, ate, did vaulting on horses, mounted games, ate, charades, and did I mention that we ate?! It was fun for the whole family, although in all honestly my kids are still too young for most of this stuff. At least next year bubbaloo will actually be old enough to come on the trail rides. This year he just got to ride the ponies in the arena and that did not impress him. The princess enjoyed herself even though she still has a few more years before she can do a lot of the activities. She was just happy to have lots of older girls to become attached to and have spoil her. The little peanut was in babysitting during the activities but since he had a loved friend there with him he felt safe. We were pleased to find out she was on babysitting staff as she is one of our regular sitters anyway. As one of only two babies on the ranch this past weekend the little peanut was spoiled. He is so easy going and loveable that it couldn’t be helped. Truthfully it was a nice break for mom and dad that the kids were kept so busy. However, I am not really a camper type person and I could have done without sleeping in single bunk beds and having to run outside in the middle of the night, and down to the communal bathrooms. Ah well, it was an experience.

This year I resolve to finish my WIPS and submit all of them. I also to resolve that once I submit something I am going to do my best to forget it and move on to write something else.

This year will see the release of Love’s Blessing with By Grace Publishing in April 2007. See? It already is a Happy New Year!
