Thursday Thirteen, 5th Edition, Why I like to Write
Thirteen Things about MG BradenIn no particular order:

1. It helps the voices in my head come alive.

2. It relieves tension and, hopefully, creates it in my readers.

3. I can write about stuff I know.

4. I can write about stuff I don’t know.

5. I am the heroine and I can make my body look whatever way I want.

6. I can make my hero my dream man and fall in love with him, without pain of betrayal in real life.

7. Worlds can be created that have no parallel here.

8. Things turn out the way I want them to.

9. Sometimes I just have to.

10. I can always have a happy ending.

11. When crappy stuff happens in life I can hide in my work.

12. When crappy stuff happens in life I can vent in my work.

13. Did I mention the voices? LOL

2006 Holiday Edition of Getting To Know Your Friends

Jaci tagged me, so here you go:

Your Name: Michelle

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Mostly wrapped but the big ones put together and left unwrapped (hey putting them together takes a long time!)

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? colored

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, like Jaci, I can get a kiss whenever I want (and sometimes when I don’t want)! LOL

5. When do you put your decorations up? Usually the first week of December but sometimes not until right before Christmas, depends on how tired I am and if I’m pregnant and sick (luckily this year not pregnant and sick!)

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Wild Drunken Yams.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: Christmas with my Nana and Papa and having Papa’s special Christmas ice cream float (with booze in it for the adults – I like it much better now!)

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? The only truth I know is that Santa makes naughty and nice lists…which are you on?!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Only the kids are allowed to open one gift on Christmas eve. Usually pj’s.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? By hanging stuff on it.LOL

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it. Once. Then it can go away. (exactly the same as Jaci)

12. Can you ice skate? Yes, I played ringette and then women’s ice hockey. My dreams of being a figure skater went by the wayside when my figure became not so petite! Have you seen most of those girls? They are tiny. Although Katarine Witt isn’t and I like that about her.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Not really. There have been a lot of good gifts. My strongest memory is of receiving my first stereo when I was in Grade 11 or 12 – it was one of those all in one things, record player (yes, I did say that!), double tape deck, radio.

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Spending time with my family and enjoying what the Season is about.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I’m odd but I like plum pudding with Hard Sauce.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? We do a graze your way through the appetizers starting on Christmas Eve afternoon until late in the evening. It ROCKS! Appetizers are some of my favourite foods. LOL

17. What tops your tree? A star.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? I love to give stuff and I have a hard time keeping it a secret until Christmas. I keep asking my dh if he wants to open it. “How about now?” “Now?” “How about now?”

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Mary Did you Know and I also like The Drummer boy as sung by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Yuck.

I’m tagging Immi and Christine.

Thursday Thirteen, 4th Edition, Why I like Fall/Winter
Thirteen Things about MG Braden

In no particular order:

1. The beautiful colours of nature

2. Thanksgiving (ours is in October) – mmmm Turkey and Wild Drunkey Yams

3. Fires (although I prefer the smell of wood burning ours is gas and easier to start and keep on all day)

4. Long, hot baths

5. Snuggling under the quilt

6. It’s actually dark at night so you don’t feel you are missing something by going to bed

7. Hot Chocolate

8. Starbucks – Fall/Christmas line up, starting with Pumpkin Spice Latte’s and Maple Macchiatos, then on to Gingerbread and Eggnog Latte’s. Oh and let’s not forget the Cranberry Bliss Bar.

9. Halloween – mostly for my kids excitement and the cool jack o’lanterns. NOT for the firecrackers which I hate and so do most animals.

10. Christmas

11. Christmas Cafe – this is a four day event put on by our Church that brings people from all over our community. There is a play, a bouncy room for the kids, Santa, a maze, music, food and more. I get to sing for four days so it makes me happy.

12. Christmas Eve – when we eat our way through a variety of appetizers from early afternoon on. My favourite.

13. Christmas Music – my favourite Christmas song right now is Mary Did You Know?

First sale

So I did it. I sold my inspirational short. I think I’ve mentioned (here or elswhere perhaps) that I did not intend to write an inspirational story. It came to me one afternoon and I had to write it. The pub liked it and asked for a revise and resubmit, which I did. I then waited for what felt like forever, but in reality wasn’t very long at all.

At this point Love’s Blessing will be released April 2007. I’m so excited.

Here is the blurb I wrote:

Janelle Trent has been desperately trying to have a baby. Can she surrender to God when the treatments don’t work?Kevin Trent loves his wife, baby or not. Can he show his wife that they already are a family? Or, will he walk away, taking with him all their hopes and dreams?

Can two people in love move past heartache to find each other, and possibly a miracle, again? Sometimes we search so hard but are unable to see that we already have Love’s Blessing.

So now I need to continue writing Snowbound as the full has been asked for so off I go to keep typing. It is not an inspiration it is a tender/sweet romance.

Then I need to get back to work on Ghost Writer which is a romantic suspense.

I’m not sure which direction Love Inheritance is going so we will leave that to the Muse.

Well, life has interupted and I must go make lunch for my dd to pack to preschool.

Happy sales to all!
